SC Preußen Münster lost two leads in the away game at SpVgg Unterhaching and lost again after five games without defeat.
Coach Sascha Hildmann’s team had to admit defeat 2:3 (1:1) on Saturday afternoon after leading 1:0 and 2:1. With the defeat, Münster slipped to twelfth place in the table.
Luca Bazzoli and Rico Preißinger, who were suspended for yellow, were missing from Münster. Alexander Hahn and Daniel Kyerewaa were in the starting line-up for them.
Two early goals
The home team scored their first opportunity in a fast-paced, high-opportunity opening phase when Manuel Stiefler headed in from a free-kick cross, but Prussia keeper Johannes Schenk didn’t cause any major problems (2nd). On the other hand, Yassine Bouchama made it more precise. After preparatory work by Benjamin Böckle and Kyerewaa, Bouchama shot from 16 meters and hit the far corner with force (8th). Shortly afterwards, Joel Grodowski almost made it 2-0 on a counterattack, but failed at the post (10th). Instead, the home team equalized. Simon Skarlatidis made it 1-1 in the 11th minute with a shot from six meters.
Even after that it continued back and forth. Skarlatidis narrowly missed the Prussian goal from the corner of the penalty area (14th) and on the other hand Grodowski had the chance to make it 2-1 for Münster, but was denied by René Vollath in the Hachinger goal (16th). After 20 minutes, a little calm returned and the scenes in the goal area became less frequent. Skarlatidis fired another shot from distance in the 23rd minute, but it didn’t pose a problem for Schenk. In the 35th minute, Malik Batmaz had a great opportunity to take the Prussian lead again, but he was denied by Vollath in a one-on-one. There were no more highlights until the break.
Grodowski scores from the point, Haching with a double strike
The second half began with a good chance for Batmaz, who had already dribbled around goalkeeper Vollath when Raphael Schifferl cleared his shot in front of the line (47th). The same picture in the 55th minute: Schifferl again cleared a Batmaz shot just in front of the goal. A little later, Schifferl was there again for Bouchama’s shot, but it hit his arm and referee Riem Hussein awarded a penalty. Grodowski stepped up and safely converted into the bottom left corner (60th). Münster almost followed up four minutes later, but for the third time Schifferl cleared a Batmaz shot off the line (64′).
But as in the first half, the home side’s response didn’t take long to arrive. At a corner, Manuel Stiefler hit his chest from close range to make it 2-2 (67′). Just seconds later, Unterhaching had turned the game around. After Schenk and Niko Koulis lost the ball, Haching’s Aaron Keller scored to make it 3-2 (68′). Münster needed a moment, but then picked themselves up and looked for the way forward again. Grodowski’s attempt from 18 meters went just wide (76′). Until the final phase, it wasn’t Münster that became dangerous, but rather Unterhaching in particular. However, the home team was unable to score a fourth goal.
Away game in Dortmund at the end
There is another away game for the Münster team before Christmas: on Wednesday, December 20th, coach Sascha Hildmann’s team will be visiting Borussia Dortmund II. Kick-off at the Rote Erde Stadium is at 7 p.m.
