3rd league: Pourie hat trick seals defeat in Zwickau

Well played and still lost 0:3. FSV Zwickau was on a par with the hosts in Meppen for a long time, but then lost Jan Löhmannsröben after being sent off and couldn’t get an SVM player under control. Marvin Pourie defeated the West Saxons single-handedly.

After Zwickau’s convincing performance at the start against Halle (3:2), FSV coach Joe Enochs had no reason to change his starting XI. Meppen’s coach Stefan Krämer, on the other hand, made two changes compared to the 1-1 draw at newly promoted Oldenburg and brought on Mirnes Pepic and Morgan Faßbender for Ole Käuper (yellow-red) and Christoph Hemlein from the start.

Up and down, both teams have good chances

No trace of palpation, both teams immediately switched to attack mode. The initial phase belonged to the Zwickauers, who set standards on their strength. Robert Hermann was present for free kicks and corners, the hosts were able to clear each. In the 20th minute, the West Saxons had their first good chance to make it 1-0, but Dominic Baumann only hit the side netting of the SVM case. At the other end it was Morgan Faßbender, who left Can Coskun and shot wide of the box.

It was the game of Meppener Marvin Pourie that Zwickau could not get a grip on.

It went up and down, after 33 minutes the home side sniffed the lead again. Samuel Abifade played low in front of goal, where Marvin Pourie skidded just wide of the ball. Only four minutes later the guests were back on the offensive, Ronny König had a lot of space and his shot failed at Meppen goalkeeper Jonas Kersken. Five minutes before the break, a ball from Abifade touched the top of the bar in the FSV box – there was a lot going on in the Hänsch Arena. And it was to get even wilder in the second half, much to Zwickau’s chagrin.

Löhmannsröben sent off – hat trick by Pourie

Hardly had 49 minutes been played when Zwickau’s Jan Löhmannsröben was sent off with a yellow card. A minute earlier he had already seen yellow, shortly afterwards he stopped a ball with his hand. The sign for referee Patrick Schwengers to send the FSV newcomer to the dressing room early. Despite being outnumbered, the West Saxons continued to play fresh and for a long time were equal, if not even a tad better than the home side.

Jan Löhmannsröben, Zwickau outnumbered since the 49th minute.

But they had a Marvin Pourie in their ranks, who single-handedly defeated the Saxons with a flawless hat-trick. In the 75th minute, Pourie used a rebound to take the lead, nine minutes later he netted to make it 2-0. And since the SVM center forward was still hungry, he made it 3-0 in the 93rd minute. The people of Zwickau were taken aback. A defeat for the guests, which was far too high overall.

What the coaches said:

Joe Enochs (FSV Zwickau): “We played against a completely insecure team. We dominated most of the first half, but that doesn’t win you a game. Getting the yellow-red card shortly after half-time was the sticking point. I’m no manager looking for someone to blame. We have to look ahead.”

Stefan Krämer (SV Meppen): “The yellow-red card played into our hands. The 1-0 was a can opener. The second goal pulled the game completely over to our side. I still made too many mistakes from behind, but we’re still at the beginning.”
