SSV Jahn Regensburg remains undefeated in the 3rd division. With the second win of the season against MSV Duisburg, the second division relegated climbs to third place in the table.
After the last three draws, SSV Jahn Regensburg ended the small draw with a 2-1 win against MSV Duisburg. Due to the second three-point win of the season, the Upper Palatinate now have nine points. SSV shares third place in the table with SpVgg Unterhaching.
Balanced beginning phase
Except for standards, there were only a few scenes in the penalty area to see for a long time. A free kick from Alexander Esswein (9th) landed directly in the arms of Jahn keeper Felix Gebhardt. A corner kick taken by Christian Viet missed the goal by about a meter in the volley (24th).
Two hits in three minutes
But then all of a sudden it happened. First Dominik Kother grabbed a poorly defended ball from the opposing keeper and pushed in from four meters to give Jahn a 1-0 lead (30′). Just three minutes later, the Zebras hit back with a header from Niclas Stierlin (33rd). Both teams went into the half-time break with a performance-based 1-1 draw.
Regensburg goes full throttle, but only hits the crossbar
Regensburg was the more active team in the second half of the game. Benedikt Saller (49th) and Dominik Kother (53rd) lacked the necessary target water. It got tighter after about an hour when Kother hissed just over the crossbar from 21 meters (63rd). Substitute Agyemang Diawusie shot just wide of the crossbar (69′). Noah Ganaus, who was also new to the game, headed the ball (70th) right into the woodwork.
But then Noah Ganaus rewarded the offensive efforts (76th) with the goal to lead 2:1. The 22-year-old striker almost scored another goal. But the next powerful shot was deflected to a corner kick. And so it remained a narrow victory.
