3rd League: Hobsch twice: SpVgg Unterhaching defeats Waldhof Mannheim

As of: October 27, 2023 8:57 p.m

At home, third division football team SpVgg Unterhaching is a force, and it remained that way against SV Waldhof Mannheim. However, the 3-0 (1-0) thanks to double goalscorer Patrick Hobsch and good use of chances is a bit too high.

It was the next “one-man show” in Unterhaching: Just three weeks ago, attacker Mathias Fetsch almost single-handedly defeated RW Essen with a four-pack. This time against SV Waldhof Mannheim it was his strike partner Patrick Hobsch who scored three important points for the team with a “double pack” (3rd/59th). In the 3-0 (1-0) Manuel Stiefler (74th) also scored for the red-blue team. But the match winner was the man with the number 34 on his shirt.

Vollath saves early penalty lead for Haching

After the early lead with a penalty (Bahn brought down Hobsch in the penalty area), the game got off to a rather tough start for coach Marc Unterberger’s team. The newcomer had hardly any offensive actions and no further chances to score in the first half. SV Waldhof, on the other hand, dominated the game, created numerous chances and was clearly the better team in the first half. Unterhaching had keeper René Vollath to thank for making it 1-0.

Waldhof Mannheim too negligent – Hobsch and Stiefler ice cold

After the change, a similar picture – but the Mannheim team simply didn’t take advantage of their chances. Haching is completely different. In the 59th minute, Hobsch was once again right at the far post after one of the few successful combinations and pushed in to make it 2-0. This broke the morale of the guests. Veteran Manuel Stiefler was allowed again. Maurice Krattenmacher even missed a second penalty in stoppage time, making it 4-0.

The result, which is too clear, somewhat obscures the course of the game. The SpVgg shouldn’t care much about that given the preliminary jump to fifth place in the table.
