There are games that deserve the title “breathtaking”. The game between Halleschen FC and Arminia Bielefeld on Friday evening (December 8th, 2023) is definitely one of them. The 2:2 (1:1) had everything that makes exciting football – just no winner.
If you just look at the result, coach Sreto Ristic’s protégés did not get beyond a disappointing 2:2 (1:1) in the last home game of the year against Arminia Bielefeld, which means that Halle continues to tread water in the fight against relegation . Emotionally, the HFC team conjured up a real blast on the pitch. First, Kaito Mizuta shot the guests into the lead in front of 6,666 spectators in the Leuna-Chemie Stadium (12th), then Tunay Deniz turned the game around (18th/74th). The final point on the scoreboard was Fabian Klos, who equalized in the 87th minute. In the first half he missed a penalty kick (45th + 2).
Halle and Bielefeld gave each other nothing on Friday evening.
Klos misses a penalty
The home team set the first offensive tone. Dominic Baumann only hit the side netting (3rd). The guests then took the initiative. In the twelfth minute, HFC goalkeeper Moritz Schulze was only able to parry a shot from Nassim Boujellab. Mizuta dusted himself off. The answer from the home team followed: Eitschberger served Deniz in an exemplary manner, who scored the equalizer from five meters. After that, the hosts got the upper hand. Klos missed the biggest opportunity to take the lead from the penalty spot in stoppage time in the first half.
After Deniz’s 1-1 draw, the HFC was wide awake.
Deniz takes the lead with a dream goal
A quarter of an hour after the restart, HFC goalkeeper Schulze became more and more the focus. With brilliant saves from Klos’ header and shots from Merveille Biankadi and Manuel Wintzheimer, he prevented the impending deficit (60th/61st/63rd). The home team took the lead with their first successful attack in the second half. A cross from Lucas Halangk chased Deniz into the net with a remarkable direct shot (74′). But Klos managed to equalize three minutes before the end – in a game that was a real battle game with eleven yellow cards.
By winning points, the Saalestadt team defended their non-relegation spot, but missed out on breaking away from their competitors in the bottom of the 3rd league table.
