SC Verl’s negative streak in the 3rd league continues. In the home game against 1860 Munich, the East Westphalians were the more active team, but in the end they were left behind.
The losers lost the game on the 27th third division matchday early on Saturday evening 0-1 (0-0).
In the sports club arena on Poststrasse, Verl took control of the game after a balanced and fast-paced start. The hosts had several chances to score. The best of these was Nico Ochojski, who was cleared in the penalty area in the 15th minute – but his shot from 14 meters was parried by guest keeper Marco Hiller.
In the 25th minute, Verl’s Tom Baack hit the inside post after an assist from Nicolas Sessa. TSV 1860, on the other hand, initially remained inconspicuous on the offensive.
He did that in the second half too SC Verl more for the offensive. Verl’s Lars Lokotsch had a good chance in the 55th minute, but his shot was blocked.
Munich comes as a surprise
But then, out of nowhere, the “Lions” took the lead: After a failed finish from Marlon Frey, the ball came to Julian Guttau, who put the ball in front of him and shot powerfully from six meters into the top right corner of the goal (71.). It was the first real chance of the game for the Sixties.
In the final phase, the East Westphalians tried to exert offensive pressure, but were no longer able to crack the visitors’ defense around the strong Jesper Verlaat. In the end, the Verlers had to accept a 0-1 defeat.
Due to the defeat, Verl had to let Munich overtake them in the table: the sports club is now 13th in the table, directly behind the “Lions”.
Now leave for the East Westphalia duel in Bielefeld
The losers have the next opportunity to turn things around on March 3rd from 4:30 p.m.: Then SCV coach Alexander Ende’s team has to compete in the derby at Arminia Bielefeld.
