In one of the highest-scoring games since the 3rd league was founded in 2008, Dynamo Dresden beat VfB Lübeck 7-2 from their own stadium. Only once had more goals been scored in the third highest German league: in the 5:5 between Eintracht Braunschweig and Fortuna Düsseldorf in May 2009. However, the game does not rank among the biggest victories: to date there have been 7:0 four times and one twice 7:1 and 19 times 6:0. Almost exactly a year ago, on February 4, 2023, Dynamo won 7-1 against Halleschen FC.
Lübeck’s Ulrich Taffertshofer with an own goal (10th), Luca Herrmann (14th) and Jakob Lemmer (28th) quickly gave Dresden a comfortable lead on Saturday afternoon. Stefan Kutschke countered Marius Hauptmann’s first goal (32′) with his tenth goal of the season before the break (38′). After the break, Niklas Hauptmann (60th), VfB defender Tommy Grupe with another own goal (81st) and Lemmer again (90th + 2) scored the decisive victory for Dynamo. Lübeck’s Aaron Herzog added a penalty with a penalty (62′). Dresden benefited from the much-discussed sending off of VfB defender Jannik Löhden in the 40th minute.

In the table, Dynamo moved within three points of leader Jahn Regensburg (52 points), who lost 3-1 at home to fourth-placed Rot-Weiss Essen (42). SSV Ulm 1846 (44) secured promotion from relegation with a 3-1 win over Waldhof Mannheim. Newly promoted Lübeck, on the other hand, is stuck in the basement in 18th place with 22 points and is three points behind the saving bank.
