When Dynamo Dresden and Erzgebirge Aue cross swords, there is always pepper in it. This time the table constellation heats up even more. The treat will be available live on Sunday on MDR.
First against second. Dynamo Dresden against Erzgebirge Aue. It’s the top game in the 3rd league – but above all it’s a derby full of emotions and explosiveness. If on Sunday (7:30 p.m live on MDR TELEVISION, in the stream in the Spio app and at sport-im-osten.de as well as in ticker) When the prestigious duel kicks off, the stadium will be sold out.
Dotchev hopes for neutral referees
The 2,700 fans from Aue will be acoustically inferior to the powerful Dynamo supporters – 32,066 in total fit into the Rudolf Harbig Stadium. FCE coach Pavel Dotchev, who has experienced many derbies, suspects: “The Dresden fans will make life difficult for us.” The experienced head coach of the Violets hopes that “the referees will not be infected by this backdrop”. He recently had the feeling that at home games “one or the other decision was in favor of Dresden”.
The last time the same constellation occurred was in 2016
The 57-year-old coach of the “Veilchen” has already experienced a few derbies and was also on the sidelines as Aue coach in 2016. Back then, the table constellation was the same – and best of all: at the end of the season, Dynamo and Aue were promoted together to the 2nd Bundesliga. This season too, the two best third division teams come from Saxony, a small but important difference: only six match days have been completed.
Aue is at the top of the table
Nevertheless, the start gives hope for great things from Saxony’s perspective. Dynamo Dresden got off to the best start with five wins and one defeat and is a power again, especially at home. Bielefeld (3:1), Mannheim (2:1) and Ingolstadt (2:0) left without a point. That shouldn’t happen to Aue on the return journey from the shortest away game of the season. Dotchev is optimistic “that we will celebrate with our fans after the final whistle.”
Should Aue win, the “Veilchen” would move past Dresden into top spot. A nice side note, but nothing more, says Dotchev. “The table is not decisive in a derby. Everyone wants to win a derby,” he makes it clear.
Barylla and Schwirten are out
In terms of personnel, Aue has two concerns: midfielder Joshua Schwirten and defender Anthony Barilla. Barylla was already there against Halle 3-1 home win not on board due to a muscular injury in the left thigh. Schwirten shone as a joker with a wonderful goal to make it 2-1, but then injured his ankle and will not be able to bring his qualities as a substitute onto the field this time.
Dynamo: flu outbreak before the game against Aue
Not everything went smoothly at Dynamo Dresden either. Instead of the planned one free training day, there were two because an infection was making the rounds. “The training week didn’t go the way we imagined,” admitted coach Markus Beginning on Friday (September 22nd) and added: “After the infections, we wanted the boys to stay out of each other’s way.” Even if one or two of them still have a cold, they will have a top starting eleven at their disposal.
He believes that the condition of the day and effectiveness will decide. “Derbies are always special. It crackles in the stadium because the emotions among fans and players are greater. We have to concentrate on what’s important, because if it’s too wild, it won’t be good,” said the Dynamo coach.
Aue wants to surprise Dynamo
Aue is the only third division team that has not lost yet and has already won four times, mainly thanks to Dotchev’s instinct for substitutions. The jokers simply sting. The head coach also wants to use his bag of tricks in the derby to surprise Dynamo. It is possible that new dynamism will emerge on the wings, which have been a bit weak recently.
On the other hand, the defense is likely to remain unchanged – for both teams. Aue has only conceded five goals, Dynamo is even better with three goals. Keeper Stefan Drljaca had to fall behind on the third matchday. The fans can look forward to a football festival, even if a goal spectacle seems unlikely. The last four duels ended 1-0.
