Status: 11/08/2022 10:52 p.m

MSV Duisburg continued their streak in the 3rd division and went undefeated at Erzgebirge Aue for the fourth time in a row. As for Viktoria Cologne, there was a 2-0 away win.

The MSV started quite strong and was the more dangerous team at the beginning. Kolja Pusch was about to take the lead, but Aue keeper Philipp Klewin prevented the visitors from taking the lead with a strong save (20′). That came a little later, however, when Alexander Sorge slipped a cross from Moritz Stoppelkamp so unluckily that the ball landed in his own goal (26′).

The guests’ first chance almost resulted in an own goal. After a corner, Marvin Bakalorz forced goalkeeper Vincent Müller to rexlex (36′). Otherwise, MSV didn’t allow anything defensively in the first half.

MSV only with a lightning start, then sovereign

After the break, Duisburg immediately went to the preliminary decision – and successfully. Pusch scored with a superior shot from 16 meters and made it 2-0 for the guests (49th). As a result, MSV concentrated on defending the lead and did it with great sovereignty. Superfluous, however: Aziz Bouhaddouz saw yellow-red in added time.

Nevertheless, the Duisburgers extended their series to four games in a row without defeat. In addition, they managed to jump back into the top half of the table for the first time, before the games on Sunday, MSV is in ninth place.

Viktoria successful abroad

Viktoria Köln is still the best NRW team in the 3rd division. The people of Cologne won 2-0 (0-0) when representing Borussia Dortmund. Simon Stehle scored late in the lead (84′), an own goal by Niklas Dams made the decision (87′).
