SC Freiburg II is still waiting for a home win this season. In the basement duel of the 3rd league, Freiburg suffered a bitter defeat against Halleschen FC on Tuesday evening.
In the catch-up game on the 11th matchday, the SC Freiburg second team lost 1:2 (1:1) against Halleschen FC. The goals for Halle were scored by Tunay Deniz (18th minute) and Dominic Baumann (53rd, penalty). Freiburg’s top scorer Maximilian Breunig equalized in front of 1,004 spectators (34th).
The away win gives Halle some breathing room in the relegation battle and is now three points ahead of 17th place in the table. Lübeck. The Breisgauers remain second to last in the table with nine points.
Deniz heads Halle into the lead
SC coach Thomas Stamm changed his team the 1:2 away defeat in Ulm in three positions. Ryan Johansson, among others, stormed for Hamadi Al Ghaddioui. And Freiburg came into the game with a lot of momentum. After two minutes, Lukas Ambros got the ball in the half-right position and shot from 30 meters. His powerful shot just missed the HFC housing. Afterwards, however, little came from the sports club, Halle increasingly moved in front of the SC goal.
With the first dangerous action the HFC took the lead. Nico Hug was able to advance unchallenged to the baseline on the left side and cross unchallenged in front of the goal. SC keeper Benjamin Uphoff unfortunately extended the cross with his fingertips to the second post, where the free-standing Deniz only had to head the ball over the line. Five minutes later, Halle’s captain Jonas Nietfeld could have even increased the score to 2-0. However, Uphoff cleared his shot from eleven meters with a strong reflex.
Breunig equalizes before halftime
Nothing came offensively from the SC in this phase. A lot of bad passes in midfield and little movement without the ball meant that there was no smooth build-up game – until the 34th minute. Johansson finally broke through in midfield and found Berkay Yilmaz on the left with his pass. He crossed sharply to Breunig, who was running along, who slotted in to equalize the score at 1-1 for the hosts. With this result we went into the break.
Uphoff takes a penalty
Both teams came out of this unchanged, but Freiburg seemed a little more alert. The guests from Halle appeared dangerously in the Freiburg half just seven minutes after the restart – and were immediately rewarded. A long ball lured SC keeper Uphoff out of his goal, but in his attempt to clear the ball he fouled the onrushing Baumann so clumsily that referee Jarno Wienefeld had no choice but to award a penalty. The person who was fouled stepped up and converted safely to make it 2-1 in the bottom left corner. It was Baumann’s 11th goal of the season.
Bouebari sees yellow-red
Breunig again had the best chance to equalize for Freiburg (69′). His shot from a tight angle was defused by a quick reaction from HFC goalkeeper Moritz Schulze. After that, the guests had everything under control. Through high pressing, they prevented Freiburg from getting in front of their own goal and secured the 2-1 lead over time. Freiburg II weakened itself shortly before the end: Substitute Franci Bouebari was shown a yellow-red card for repeated foul play (90th + 5th).
The game continues for Halleschen FC on Friday (7 p.m.). Then the Halle team will travel to the Unterhaching game association for the start of the 17th matchday. SC Freiburg II also has to compete in Bavaria. Second-placed Jahn Regensburg awaits on Sunday (December 3rd, 4:30 p.m.).
