Third division soccer team Borussia Dortmund II has parted ways with coach Christian Preusser (39) with immediate effect. The club announced this on Monday evening (06.02.23).
The black and yellow want to decide “in the coming days” about the successor, according to a press release.
Preusser took over the U23s immediately before the start of the season after Enrico Maaßen left Bundesliga club FC Augsburg last summer. Under the former coach of second division Fortuna Düsseldorf, however, only six wins were achieved in 21 league games, the Dortmund reserve is in 16th place in the table and in acute danger of relegation.
“We didn’t take the decision lightly. In the past few weeks, however, we’ve come to believe that our goals for the season – both in terms of the development of the team and the individual development of the players – will be difficult to achieve in this constellation.” , said Ingo Preuss, the sports director of the U23.
In Düsseldorf, Preusser was released almost a year ago to the day (February 7, 2022).
