FC Erzgebirge Aue turned a deficit into a win in the last five minutes at Grünwalder Strasse near 1860 Munich. The Saxons presented themselves in the style of a top team.
FC Erzgebirge Aue also remained undefeated in the fifth game. After falling behind against TSV 1860 Munich, the violets made it 2-1 (0-0) in the Bavarian capital thanks to two late goals and are going into the international break with a lot of confidence.
Bär awards the only highlight in round one
The hosts started more committed. TSV had advantages especially on the flanks, but Aue was organized in the center and didn’t let anything burn. Gradually, the violets became bolder, but at first dangerous situations did not arise. Only Omar Sijaric was in danger offensively, but was unlucky with his crosses. The hosts under coach Maurizio Jacobacci rarely got through against the Saxons, played imprecisely, collected more corners than shots. Shortly before the break, FC Erzgebirge suddenly found space on the left. Boris Tashchy ideally placed the ball in the middle of ex-lion Marcel Bär, who should have scored the opening goal from close range, but hit over the ball. So it went goalless at the break.
Thiel and Bär turn the game
After half-time, the lions showed their teeth, worked harder and pushed the violets in behind. In the 54th minute, Morris Schröter made Kilian Jakob look bad and played sharply in the middle – Leroy Kwadwo was spot on there and slotted in to give the home side the lead. Aue was by no means shocked by this, but turned it on. In the 73rd minute Jakob almost made up for his mistake before the 0:1, but 1860 keeper Marco Hiller still had his hand between his powerful shot.
The violets didn’t give up, played forward and didn’t give the Munich team any time to breathe. Substitute Marvin Stefaniak asserted himself on the good right side, pinned on Steffen Meuer, who also came on as a substitute, who hung up on Bär, who marked the well-deserved equalizer. But that wasn’t enough for Aue: it went down the right side again, Meuer resolutely conquered the ball, played on ex-Löwe Bär, whose shot was blocked – the rebound went in the direction of Maximilian Thiel, who took heart and out the turn untenable in the angle to victory for FC Erzgebirge thrashing. Game turned, morale shown: Aue remains unbeaten and is second in the table before the international break. Coach Dotchev was satisfied with his team’s consistency after the game.
