FCS complies with the request for a change
Alexander Groiß leaves 1. FC Saarbrücken after a year and 24 games and moves on to newly promoted SpVgg Bayreuth within the 3rd division. FCS complied with the change request of the 24-year-old, who wanted more playing time, and canceled the contract that originally ran until 2023. “Alexander is a stroke of luck for us,” said Bayreuth’s managing director Michael Born. “He’s young, very willing, gives us the necessary physicality in defense and has an excellent reputation.”
Groiß described himself as a player with whom “you definitely have a lot of fun”, “but on the field I’m absolutely ambitious and completely focused. I find it extremely exciting to play for a promoted team. That has its very own appeal. Nobody has you on their bill and you can only surprise everyone.” Groiß also admitted: “In the end I was just no longer happy in Saarbrücken.”
