3rd league: Again no goal – Zwickau loses against Wiesbaden

Status: 08.10.2022 4:30 p.m

FSV Zwickau narrowly lost its home game on Saturday afternoon 0:1 (0:1) against guests from SV Wehen Wiesbaden. Again, the Saxons were lacking in penetrating power in the game. In the entire game, FSV only had one real chance to score and with seven goals they still have the second worst offensive in the league.

The first half was actually always the better one for FSV Zwickau this season. Unfortunately, there was little to see today. Wiesbaden disturbed the swans early on in the build-up game and hardly allowed the hosts to develop. Zwickau couldn’t find any solutions to get out of it and in return had to fend off the much clearer attacks from Wiesbaden. Especially from the 30th minute it got tighter and tighter around the Zwickau penalty area and Wiesbaden put pressure on the lead. With success after 36 minutes. Ivan Prtajn headed in Brooklyn Ezeh’s corner for a 1-0 lead.

Apart from a shot by Mike Könnecke, which went well over the goal, Zwickau had no real offensive action to offer and therefore deservedly went into the dressing room with a deficit. Now it was up to Joe Enochs to find ways to finally get dangerously in front of the opponent’s goal.

Lots of effort, little return

But the fans saw far too little of that in the second half. FSV only posed a threat once when Maximilian Jansen shot from distance in the 67th minute and tested substitute keeper Arthur Liska. But since the guests also lost their thread from the first half, a mixed game developed with many small fouls and interruptions. Game flow was absent until the final phase. Zwickau threw everything forward again towards the end. The Enochs team couldn’t be blamed for a lack of effort that afternoon. What was missing were clear plays and actions on the offensive.

In this way, the Wiesbadeners were able to take their narrow lead over the eight minutes of stoppage time, which had become necessary because Ronny König had to be treated for a long time after a collision. Due to the defeat, FSV Zwickau remains in 15th place in the table and is still the second-worst offensive in the league with only seven goals. 1. FC Saarbrücken is waiting next week.
