MSV Duisburg celebrated their first home win of the new 3rd division season with a strong performance. The outstanding man at MSV was Moritz Stoppelkamp.
MSV won in front of 8,000 spectators in the Monday evening game (08/15/2022) against SC Freiburg II 3-1 (1-0) and improved to eighth place in the table. After the away win at FSV Zwickau, it was the second win in a row for Duisburg. Freiburg suffered their first defeat of the season.
In his 100th third division game, captain Moritz Stoppelkamp was involved in all three goals for Duisburg. With two corner kicks, he prepared the first two header goals by Joshua Bitter (30th) and Aziz Bouhaddouz (49th). Stoppelkamp scored the third goal himself (59′) after a great solo effort and a finish well worth seeing.
“We now have good target players up front, we didn’t have these radio towers last season,” said Stoppelkamp at Magenta Sport. Another explanation for the good performance of the MSV was the outstanding preparation. “We are all fit, the team is alive. I benefit from that too,” said the captain.

Good memories of Freiburg II
Duisburg celebrated an important win against the Freiburg U23 three months ago. The 1-0 at the same place meant relegation at the time.
