375 new referees on the way
Through the new campaign ‘ikwordscheidsrechter.be’, the KBVB has already found 375 new refs. A fifth of the candidates are already whistling their first matches today. The participants are between 15 and 60 years old. Most of the aspiring referees are between 15 and 20 years old. Of which more than 6 percent are women.
The training starts with an intensive course day, followed by a theoretical exam. Those who pass the exam can immediately whistle matches. We walked along with 17-year-old Andres D’haene, who was only up to his fourth competition.
