A good five weeks after a fatal attack on a 34-year-old in Leipzig, two teenagers and two young men were arrested.
After extensive investigations, there were indications of a group of perpetrators from Berlin, the public prosecutor’s office and the police announced on Monday.
The suspects are between 14 and 20 years old. The two youngest (14 and 16 years) come from Romania and Russia, the two 18 and 20 year olds are German. Arrest warrants have been issued for all four.
The quartet is accused of robbery resulting in death.
The brutal attack
They are said to have approached the man (34) at around 8:55 p.m. in the Schleußig district of a car and attacked him shortly afterwards.
They inflicted serious injuries on the 34-year-old, left him at the scene of the crime and then fled on foot in an unknown direction. The man was first taken to a clinic, where he succumbed to his serious injuries two days later.
Almost a month later, the rooms and apartments of the suspects, some of whom were minors, were searched. According to the public prosecutor’s office, comprehensive evidence was secured.
The urgent suspicion has thus hardened. The group was arrested shortly thereafter.
