The Eisbären Berlin also won their second game of the season in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL). On Sunday, the Berliners won 3:2 (1:0, 1:1, 1:1) at Düsseldorfer EG.
Manuel Wiederer, Tobias Eder and Yannick Veilleux ensured Berlin’s hard-fought away win with their goals.
In front of 9,925 spectators, the home team got off to a better start and had their first chances to score. The Berliners struggled for a long time, but took the lead shortly before the first period break thanks to an energetic performance from national player Wiederer: When the guests were outnumbered, the attacker fought for the puck and successfully completed his subsequent solo effort.
In the second period, Eder extended the lead with a power play goal, but Philip Gogulla shortened the lead for the hosts just a little later.
After the Düsseldorf team were unable to take advantage of some good equalizing opportunities, Veilleux restored the old gap in the final third with Berlin’s second power-play goal.
Former Eisbären professional Bennet Roßmy made things even more exciting by scoring another goal for Düsseldorf, but in the end the guests managed to secure a narrow victory with great effort over time.
