The Berlin Volleys have also won their 21st competitive game this season!
In the intermediate round of the volleyball league, coach Cedric Enard’s team won 3:1 (25:21, 25:23, 14:25, 25:19) at the SWD powervolleys Düren on Saturday evening. In front of 750 spectators in the Arena Kreis Düren, which was sold out under Corona conditions, Benjamin Patch turned the fourth match ball into a win.
In the first set, middle blocker Jeffrey Jendryk scored important points for the Berliners. An ace by Tim Carle put them 16:11 ahead at the second technical time-out. After the opponent was able to work their way up to a point, Benjamin Patch in particular made things clearer again.
The Berliners got into trouble when Nehemiah Mote and then Patch were successfully blocked by the opponent in the crunch time of the second round when the score was 20:20. Düren led 22:20, but with strong serves from Ruben Schott, the German champion just managed to turn the tide.
The Dürener sensed their chance and temporarily determined the game. Your opponent lost the line, the third set developed into a one-sided affair from the guests’ point of view with intermediate scores of 4:9, 8:16 and 12:22.
But the BR Volleys remained unimpressed. With strong blocks from Jendryk, clever passes from Sergej Grankin and accurate attacking play, the team regained control of the action and ultimately won deservedly.
