Longed for three points for Hertha! Hertha BSC inflicted their first defeat on SC Paderborn since the beginning of September and overtook Ostwestfalen, who had the same number of points, in the table of the 2nd Bundesliga.
Hertha won 3-1 (2-0) at home on Saturday and celebrated their fifth win of the season. Haris Tabakovic (11th minute/54th) with his goals eight and nine and Jonjoe Kenny (45th + 3) scored for the capital.
Florent Muslija (47th) scored the next goal in front of 35,832 spectators. Hertha captain Toni Leister was sent off shortly before the end with a yellow-red card (86th).
The opening phase belonged to the Berliners, who developed a lot of goal threat through Fabian Reese and Tabakovic. The Swiss striker finally used his third chance to take the deserved lead.
As a result, Hertha fell behind and Paderborn took control of the game. When both teams were almost in the locker room, Kenny increased the score out of nowhere.
Hertha quickly recovered from Muslija’s shock goal after the restart.
Once again, the Berlin dream duo caused a sensation in the Paderborn penalty area when Tabakovic artistically completed a cross from Reese.
It was Tabakovic’s fourth brace this season. At Paderborn, the substitution of ex-national player Max Kruse had largely no effect.
