The Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven said goodbye to the short Christmas break with a narrow victory on Saturday (December 23, 2023) in the race for the top of the table in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).
With a 2:1 (0:0, 1:0, 1:1) at the Schwenninger Wild Wings, the Pinguins took the lead in the long-distance duel with leaders Eisbären Berlin, but they can follow suit again in the afternoon game against the Nuremberg Ice Tigers.
Third defeat in a row for Schwenningen
Colt Adam Conrad scored the decisive goal for Bremerhaven shortly before the end (57th). Lukas Kälble had previously taken the lead in the middle third (40th), but Phil Hungerecker equalized for Schwenningen in the meantime (49th).
It was the third defeat in a row for the hosts, but they are still in the middle of the play-off race with 45 points.
