30,000 euros raised at auction for revalidating Amy Pieters

An auction for the recovering Amy Pieters with mainly cycling items has yielded 30,000 euros. Organizer Sterrenfietsen announced this today. Among other things, tickets for AZ with dinner (470 euros), a signed shirt by Denise Betsema (383 euros) and a signed shirt by Johnny Rep (340 euros) were offered.

The 31-year-old cyclist from Zwanenburg fell on December 23, 2021 during a training with the national track team in Spain. She was then taken to a hospital by air ambulance, where she underwent surgery on her skull. Pieters was then in a coma for months. Pieters can now walk short distances without support, but still has a long rehabilitation ahead of him.

That is why Sterrenfietsen decided to set up an auction for cyclists. This allows Pieters’ bathroom to be adapted to her needs. It was a successful auction. For example, a bike owned by Tom Dumoulin raised 6,000 euros and Remco Evenepoel’s rainbow jersey raised 4,100 euros.
