US actor Michael K. Williams died in September 2021 at the age of 54 from a fatal dose of heroin. The drug dealer who sold Williams the fentanyl-spiked heroin has now pleaded guilty to drug conspiracy in federal court in Manhattan “New York Times” reported.

Deadly drug deal

Said Williams drug trafficker, namely Irvin “Green Eyes” Cartagena, and three other men (Hector Robles, Luis Cruz and Carlos Macci) have been accused of dealing in narcotics outside an apartment in Williamsburg, Brooklyn: Surveillance footage showed, according to the “NYT”, how Williams bought heroin from 39-year-old Cartagena on September 5, 2021 on South 3rd Street in Williamsburg. He was found dead in his home the following day.

Cartagena was subsequently arrested in Puerto Rico last year and charged with drug conspiracy that resulted in death. However, he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of conspiracy – which enabled him to avoid the death penalty and, as of this writing, faces a sentence of 24 to 30 years in prison. The judge handling the case will deliver his verdict in August 2023.

The heroin Williams bought from Cartagena was said to be laced with fentanyl, which is a man-made opioid that has a pain-relieving effect. It is up to a hundred times stronger than morphine.

Williams is best known for his portrayal of murderer Omar Little on The Wire. He then starred in the HBO series Boardwalk Empire. Last year he appeared posthumously in the film Breaking.
