At the assize trial on the attacks of March 22, 2016, the court and jury did not impose an additional sentence for Salah Abdeslam, who was already sentenced to life in prison for the attacks in Paris and twenty years in prison for the shooting in Driesstraat in Vorst. Sofien Ayari also received no additional punishment. Mohamed Abrini, the ‘man with the hat’, was sentenced to thirty years in prison. Osama Krayem, who turned around at Maalbeek metro station, was sentenced to life in prison, as was Bilal El Makhoukhi, who helped hide the terror cell’s weapons.
