2nd main round: Draw in the DFB Cup on Sunday

The second main round of the DFB Cup will be drawn on Sunday – then matches between the top teams in the Bundesliga are possible.

The draw will take place on Sunday at 5.10 p.m. (ZDF), paraswimmer Josia Topf will draw the lots. As in the first round, there are two pots: All clubs from the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 are in pot 1, and all teams from the leagues below are in pot 2.

One lot will be drawn first from lottery pot 2 and then from lottery pot 1. As soon as pot 2 is empty, the remaining teams from the first and second division pots are drawn against each other. This means that encounters like those between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund and all other Bundesliga duels in this round are possible.

Pot 2 with five underdogs

The biggest outsiders in the 2nd main round are the Stuttgarter Kickers, who play in the fifth-rate Oberliga Baden-Württemberg. VfB Lübeck from the fourth-rate Regionalliga Nord is also hoping for a surprise. There are also the three third division teams Mannheim, Braunschweig and Elversberg.

The team drawn first has home advantage in any case, the winners reach the round of 16.
