The Elversberg goals were scored by Younes Ebnoutalib (32nd minute) and Frederik Schmahl (76th). Sven Michel (52nd) equalized for Paderborn.

This means that the SVE overtakes the Paderborn team in the table and is now second. After two games without a win, coach Vincent Wagner’s team celebrated another threesome. On the other hand, the decline of Paderborn residents continues. It was their third defeat in a row.

Ebnoutalib’s eleventh goal

The East Westphalians initially had events under control without becoming particularly dangerous. Only once did the bell almost ring in the Elversberg box. Nick Bätzner had already shot from half left, but SVE goalkeeper Nicolas Kristof saved with a great save.

Somewhat surprisingly, the lead fell to the Saarlanders, who successfully completed a well-rehearsed corner. Tom Zimmerschmied crossed long to the second post, where Younes Ebnoutalib was completely free and headed in with a touch-down shot. It was his eleventh goal of the season and the visitors’ lead at halftime.

“Joker” Michel stings

After the change, things became much more turbulent. Initially, the home team got off to a better start, and that was mainly due to “Joker” Sven Michel, who came on for Marco Wörner during the break. After a long pass from Calvin Brackelmann, Ruben Müller, who was also substitute, passed the ball to Michel, who shot with his left.

Kristof had no chance with the slightly deflected ball. It was Michel’s first goal of the season, but his 38th in his 120th second division game.

Hard expulsion against Brackelmann

Shortly afterwards, Steffen Tigges had two good opportunities to give Paderborn the lead, but the center forward missed the chances quite miserably. A few minutes later, the shock for the SCP: Brackelmann had to leave the field with a red card after a challenge against Frederik Schmahl – a very tough decision by referee Robert Hartmann, which visibly upset Paderborn’s coach Ralf Kettemann.

Hartmann then took another goal from Ebnouhtalib back because it was offside. But the Elversberg team took the lead once again. Schmahl took courage from a distance and scored with a powerful shot to make it 2-1. Götze deflected the ball into his own goal with his head.
