2nd league: Hannover 96 beats Holstein Kiel – Erzgebirge Aue gambles 3:1 at the SCP

2 Nazarov penalties are not enough

Hannover 96 is still on the upswing in the 2nd Bundesliga. Lower Saxony won 2-0 (0-0) at home against Holstein Kiel on Friday evening and drew level with the storks on points. Sebastian Kerk (65th minute) and Niklas Hult (72nd) scored in front of 9,200 spectators for coach Christoph Dabrowski’s team, who thus managed a successful dress rehearsal for the quarter-finals in the DFB Cup. Then on Wednesday, RB Leipzig will be making a guest appearance in the HDI Arena.

In an even game, both teams had chances to take the lead before the break. 96 missed a triple chance in the 35th minute through Sebastian Stolze, Kerk and Maximilian Beier. Benedikt Pichler could have scored for the guests (45th).

After the change of sides it was the Hanoverians who took advantage of their chances. Kerk scored through Linton Maina and Hult after a nice combination. A little later, Hult made everything clear by extending a shot from Mark Diemers with a heel into the goal.

Erzgebirge Aue deep in the basement of the 2nd league: Bitter 3: 3 at SC Paderborn

Under the new coach Pavel Dotchev, Erzgebirge Aue missed a redeeming victory in the relegation battle of the 2nd division and gave up a 3-1 lead just before the final whistle. At SC Paderborn, the Saxons initially came from behind in a turbulent second half on Friday evening, but then gambled away the victory they thought was certain within a few seconds. A crazy game ended 3:3 (0:1) and gave the “Violets”, who were threatened with relegation, a severe setback.

In front of 3,319 spectators, Dmitri Nazarov scored two penalties (63rd/70th minute) and Ben Zolinski (65th) for courageous guests who are no longer bottom of the table, at least for the time being. Paderborn, who had been put in the lead by Dennis Srbeny (26′), performed poorly for long stretches, but showed morale and saved at least a draw thanks to two late goals from Kemal Ademi (89′) and Marcel Correia (90′).
