Uzun scores again
In an emotional Franconian derby, 1. FC Nürnberg and SpVgg Greuther Fürth separated in a draw. The 271st duel between the two arch-rivals ended on Friday evening with a 1:1 (1:1), which does not help either team significantly in the 2nd Bundesliga. Defender Damian Michalski had already given Fürth the lead with a header in the 8th minute. Can Uzun equalized with a penalty kick in stoppage time in the first half.
In front of a magnificent backdrop and 47,000 spectators in the sold-out Max Morlock Stadium, the guests from Fürth got into the game better and took the lead early on: defender Michalski scored on his starting debut from a corner. It took the Nuremberg team a long time to get going. Uzun’s equalizer in injury time of the first half followed video evidence and a flattering penalty whistle. For the 17-year-old, it was the seventh goal in the seventh game in all competitions.
The “Club” and also the Fürth team pushed for the winning goal as the game progressed, but there were not many great chances. Nuremberg’s captain Florian Hübner missed the best with his head (76th). The FCN remains in the middle of the table due to the division of points, the Fürth team missed a break in the bottom half of the rankings after two recent defeats.
Step out of the crisis: SC Paderborn achieves second victory without Kruse
SC Paderborn took an important step out of the crisis with the 2-1 (0-1) win against SV Wehen Wiesbaden. Coach Lukas Kwasniok’s team managed their first win in a month on Friday without former national player Max Kruse, despite a 0-1 deficit. Kianz Froese (23rd) gave the newcomer the lead with his first opportunity. Sebastian Klaas (51′) and Niclas Nadj (60′) turned the game around after the break for Paderborn, who had only won once in five previous games.
Paderborn managed to catch up with the lower midfield with seven points from six games. Wehen Wiesbaden still has eight points and falls back to midfield for the time being. After falling behind, the Hessians pushed for the equalizer again, but in the end they were not rewarded for their courageous performance. Paderborn continued to play without Kruse, who is now suffering from an infection.
