20th matchday
Berlin (dpa) – SV Darmstadt 98 has replaced FC St. Pauli as the leader of the 2nd Bundesliga. The team coached by Torsten Lieberknecht won 2-0 (1-0) at Last FC Ingolstadt 04 on Saturday.
The Darmstadt team have only lost one of the last 13 games. The goals for the fifth away win in a row came from Tim Skarke (15′) and Aaron Seydel (82′). With 39 points, the Hessians are two points ahead of FC St. Pauli after the 20th matchday. Hamburg have been waiting for a win for four games and lost the city duel against HSV (34) 1-2 (1-0) on Friday evening.
SC Paderborn and Werder Bremen played a wild game. The Hanseatic League still won 4:3 (1:2) despite being 1:3 behind. The Bremen team won their fifth game under their coach Ole Werner and improved with 35 points to third place in the promotion relegation zone.
Directly behind them is FC Schalke 04 with the same number of points as HSV. The team of coach Dimitrios Grammozis came to a clear 5-0 (2-0) at FC Erzgebirge Aue and celebrated their first away win since mid-October. Simon Terodde (36th minute) and Andreas Vindheim (38th) put the guests on course for victory before half-time. In front of 1000 spectators, Danny Latza (51./63) with a brace and Marvin Pieringer (72.) made the decision in favor of Schalke.
Florent Muslija (15’/penalty kick, 38′) and Felix Platte (57′) scored twice for the East Westphalians from long range to temporarily lead 3-1. But the guests held back with goals from Marvin Ducksch (35′), Romano Schmid (59′), Niclas Füllkrug (66′) and Ömer Toprak (86′). A goal was denied by both sides in the second half.
The promotion ambitions of 1. FC Heidenheim (34) were dampened by the 0-0 draw at Hansa Rostock. With a win, Heidenheim could have successfully defended their third place. The Rostockers were the more active team overall, the guests hardly took part in the offensive. In the evening, FC Schalke 04 took on the second-to-bottom Erzgebirge Aue.
