2nd Bundesliga: Transfermarkt user opinion Hansa Rostock

Fan series for the 2nd league

With the help of the community, Transfermarkt will take a detailed look at the 56 teams in the Bundesliga, Bundesliga 2 and Bundesliga 3 in the coming weeks. Which players are the fans looking forward to the most, where is there room for improvement and what is in the squad for 2022/23 for your favorite club? We asked around in the forums and got our opinions – in league two we continue with user “han-sainhamburg” and FC Hansa Rostock.

How do you rate the Hansa squad?

The Baltic Sea wind blew through the squad of the Hanseatic League. With Julian Riedel, Baxter Bahn and Björn Rother, the contracts of three heroes of the rise were not renewed. Other supplementary players left and a number of loan deals – the most important in terms of sport with Timo Becker, who hired in Kiel – ended. A total of 15 players have left the club. However, the main formation could be maintained – with one exception. The departure of Hanno Behrens (for 200,000 euros to Persija Jakarta) hurts sportingly and personally, but has nevertheless created financial leeway.

Discuss about Hansa RostockRight this way!
Hansa used this to sign Sebastien Thill, who drew attention to himself with his goals for Sheriff Tiraspol in the Champions League. Hansa has gained more flexibility, among other things, through the further commitments of Kai Pröger, Dennis Dressel, Morris Schröter, John-Patrick Strauß and Frederic Ananou, because all players can hold several positions. A second goalkeeper has also been signed in Nils-Jonathan Körber, who will put more pressure on the established captain Markus Kolke than before. For John Verhoek, who made it possible to stay up with 17 goals, there has not been an adequate replacement in the squad so far. Ridge Munsy and Pascal Breier do not embody the same center forward model. Both are likely to be given with a corresponding offer. With the recently announced commitment of Lukas Hinterseer, this need was met earlier than one might have expected. Overall, the squad has become significantly deeper and allows coach Jens Härtel to choose a more diverse system.

Where do you see a need for improvement by Deadline Day?

Although the squad is basically well positioned, there is still room for improvement for a club like Hansa so well before the end of the transfer window. The position for which I think this is most likely to be the case is a hybrid of centre-back and left-back as a left-footed player. Augsburg’s Frederik Winther could offer himself for a loan deal here. With Lukas Scherff (back after a cruciate ligament rupture) and Felix Ruschke (from the U19s), Hansa has two left-backs in the squad who are unlikely to be considered for the regular formation. With a player like Winther you could cover this position and at the same time have another option for central defense if you play with a back three.

What do you expect from the playful appearance of the team?

In the past season, Hansa mainly propagated system approaches that were tailored to target player Verhoek. In the new season, I expect significantly more flexibility – both systemically and with moves. Because with Thill and Dressel, the playful quality in central midfield has presumably increased significantly. In addition, the Swedes Svante Ingelsson and Nils Fröling have more internalized their roles as powerful offensive players with a high degree of tactical flexibility.

Ingelsson in particular can basically occupy all positions offensively and thus, together with the technically very strong Haris Duljevic, provides many moments of surprise. Systemically, with the new squad you can deviate much more often from the clear 4-2-3-1 that was mostly chosen in the previous season and at the beginning or during a game you can flexibly switch to the defensive back three with clear track players, usually in a 3-5-2 , switch. Pröger or Ingelsson can then occupy the second striker position. The preparation has clearly shown that Hansa has positioned itself more broadly here.

What’s in store for FC Hansa Rostock in 2022/23?

It is important for Hansa to confirm the strong second half of the previous season as quickly as possible. The opening program is extremely tough – after the 0-1 draw against Heidenheim on Matchday 1, HSV, Bielefeld, Darmstadt and St. Pauli come next. If you emerge stronger from this program, you can collect 40 points quickly and squint into the middle of the table. In any case, I trust the team to confirm relegation and in the end I’m guessing eleventh place in the table.
