Dominant start through Darmstadt
Darmstadt started dominantly and had the first finish through Luca Pfeiffer (14th). Three minutes later, Heidenheim struck ice cold. After a nice combination, Kühlwetter scored from a short distance to take the lead. The guests then stood compactly and only allowed chances in the final phase of the first half. Mathias Honsak failed after a corner kick to goalkeeper Kevin Müller (45 + 1).
Darmstadt increased the pressure after the change, but Heidenheim initially had everything under control and was much more efficient. Leipertz scored just a few seconds after being substituted on. Seydel, who also came on as a substitute, made it exciting again. Tietz equalized and Skarke scored after a blunder by Müller.
Darmstadt has to play against Sandhausen on Friday (March 11th, 2022), Heidenheim will have to face Werder Bremen on Saturday.
