FC Schalke 04 carelessly missed the connection to the middle of the table in the 2nd Bundesliga. On Saturday, coach Karel Geraerts’ team lost a 2-0 lead against SC Paderborn, but still managed a 3-3 (1-0) draw in the end. In front of 60,000 spectators in the Veltins Arena, the Bundesliga relegated team was already seemingly comfortably leading after goals from Kenan Karaman (32nd minute) with a hand penalty and Bryan Lasme (50th). But with the lead behind them, nothing was going well for the Revierklub.
Aaron Zehnter (60th), David Kinsombi (78th) also with a hand penalty and Sebastian Klaas (86th) turned the game in Paderborn’s favor before Keke Topp (90th + 2) equalized in added time in the crazy game Schalke scored. Coach Lukas Kwasniok’s team gained one point over Hamburger SV in the relegation zone, but failed to catch up with HSV.
A week after the spectacular 3-1 win against leaders FC St. Pauli, Schalke remains stuck in the bottom of the table. With 30 points from 25 games, the Bundesliga relegated team still has a reasonably comfortable lead over the relegation zone.
1-0 against Karlsruhe: Holstein Kiel already five points ahead of HSV
Holstein Kiel is getting closer and closer to the first Bundesliga promotion in the club’s history. The second-place team won 1-0 (0-0) against Karlsruher SC and thereby extended their lead over the relegation place to five points.
After several wasted chances, Lewis Holtby rewarded a strong Kiel performance with the opening goal in the 57th minute. The former first division and England professional scored with a deflected long-range shot. His team had previously missed significantly better opportunities thanks to Tom Rothe (3rd), Alexander Bernhardsson (10th/34th), Shuto Machino (46th/49th) and Timo Becker (47th).

Marvin Wanitzek (77th), Jérôme Gondorf (86th) and Fabian Schleusener (88th) missed three great chances to make it 1-1. The conclusion in front of 15,034 spectators: KSC played well, but Kiel played even better over the entire 90 minutes.
Hannover 96 can’t get past a draw in Wiesbaden

Ivan Prtajin scored the goal for SVWW in front of 10,089 spectators in the Brita Arena (33rd minute). Andreas Voglsammer scored on the guests’ side (54′).
