Status: 04.02.2023 5:25 p.m

Arminia Bielefeld celebrated an important victory at SSV Jahn Regensburg on the 19th matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga and left the relegation zone. Arminia won 3-1 on Saturday (February 4th, 2023) with two goals from Fabian Klos in the closing stages.

Regensburg got off to a lightning start: Jan Elvedi extended the first corner kick with a header into the far corner (2nd minute). The guests quickly put away the early deficit. Sebastian Vasiliadis was spot on after a failed defense and scored to equalize with a direct acceptance.

Overall, Bielefeld was the more dangerous team and created better chances in the first half. However, after the 1-1 equalizer, luck was lacking in the end, so Janni Serra missed three times (20th/28th/54th).

Klos match winner for Arminia by double pack

The people of Regensburg, on the other hand, seemed insecure for a long time, the negative series apparently left its mark. Regensburg only became more effective and dangerous in the second half, but acted too hectically in the end.

In the 77th minute, the supposed 2:1 of the home side was rightly denied again by Elvedi with a header because of an offside position according to video evidence.

In the final phase, Bielefeld hit twice through Klos. In a turbulent final phase, he headed a cross from Bryan Lasme for Bielefeld’s lead (85′), in injury time Bielefeld’s veteran striker, criminally left alone after a free kick, also scored the final decision with his head.

Arminia climbs – Regensburg bottom line

Arminia celebrated their first win of the new year and managed to break out of the relegation zone. Jahn Regensburg, on the other hand, slipped under the line after the third bankruptcy in a row.

Regensburg as a guest in Nuremberg

On the 20th matchday, Regensburg has to fight for points against the impending relegation away in Nuremberg (Saturday, February 11th, 2023 at 1 p.m.). Bielefeld is already challenged against Rostock on Friday (6.30 p.m.).
