Second division autumn champions Holstein Kiel will have to do without striker Fiete Arp “in the medium to long term”. This is just as bitter for the club as it is for the attacker, who was recently back in top form after a long time.
The KSV said goodbye to the winter break with five wins in a row and in first place. With five goals, Arp played a major role in the “Storks” soaring. Finally, one would think – because the 23-year-old had experienced difficult years after his much-noticed start at HSV. In total, Arp scored five goals for Kiel in the first half of the season.
But just one day after the start of training for the new year, the setback came: the injury Arp suffered in the 3-0 win against Hannover 96 on December 16th turned out to be more stubborn than initially hoped. After more detailed examinations, the injury “turned out to be a torn tendon in the adductor area. This means that he will be out in the medium to long term,” said the KSV.
Individual training in training camp
The native of Segeberg will still stay with the team at the training camp in Spain. While his teammates get in shape for the second half of the season, Arp only has individual training.
There are still two test games left on January 6th in Spain against Bundesliga team Darmstadt and on January 13th against league rivals Hannover. The second division second half of the season begins on January 19th (6:30 p.m., in the NDR Livecenter) with the home game against Eintracht Braunschweig, which is set to end with a club from Schleswig-Holstein being promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time.
