2,500 square meters for new showrooms

Start of construction on the Mainhausen campus in October 2022

The ANWR GROUP eG will expand the existing order center O1 on the Mainhausen campus with a new building. Construction of the four-story building is scheduled to begin in October 2022. Showrooms ranging in size from 100 to 500 square meters are offered on a floor space of 2,500 square meters. Fritz Terbuyken, the board member responsible for the project, is very satisfied with the interest shown by potential tenants. So far, 70 percent of the planned space has already been rented.

The ANWR GROUP will expand the showroom offer on the Mainhausen campus with an addition for the order center O1. A four-story building adjoining the Nike showroom is currently being planned. Flexible showroom units with sizes between 100 and 500 square meters are to be created on a floor space of 2,500 square meters. The new building is architecturally based on the O1 order center and is connected to the O1 via a short path.

The ANWR GROUP is investing around seven million euros in the new building and thus in the future viability of the Mainhausen order location. Fritz Terbuyken, member of the board of the ANWR GROUP eG responsible for the Mainhausen campus, sees this investment as confirmed not least by the great interest shown by industrial partners and commercial representatives in a presence in central Germany. He also sees the tendency for brand manufacturers to consolidate their sales networks under the aspect of “one stop shopping for retailers” and increasingly want to connect showrooms, including their sales locations, with central accessibility.

After the building permit has been submitted, the symbolic groundbreaking is planned for October 2022 and completion for December 2023. The previous future tenants are Rieker, Crocs, Deuter and Hoka.

Importance of the Mainhausen order location increases

With the construction and opening of the O1 in January 2014, the ANWR GROUP laid the foundation for developing the location into one of the most important order centers in Europe for shoe and sports retailers. Since August 2020, further exhibition, office and conference areas have been opened in an additional new building. Nike uses an area of approx. 2,000 square meters on two levels – on the ground floor for the 1,500 square meter showroom, on the upper floor another 500 square meters for offices. The running specialist Asics exchanged the showroom on the 2nd floor of the O1 for the 400 square meter area in the new building and thus significantly expanded, modernized and upgraded.

Over 100 brands are represented in 80 showrooms. “The current and future tenant mix strengthens the position of O1 as one of the leading order centers for sports and shoe retailers in Germany and Europe,” says Terbuyken. A good 25 percent of the brands serve the specialist trade in the Rhine/Main region from Mainhausen. The radius of the others goes far beyond that. With Adidas, Nike and Puma, the three top international sports brands are represented in Mainhausen. The largest anchor tenants, each with over 1,000 square meters of showroom space on campus, are Nike, Adidas and Skechers.
