241 additional shelters in Drenthe for refugees from Ukraine

The Drenthe municipalities will arrange 241 additional shelter places for people who have fled from Ukraine in the coming weeks. The places are needed because the current reception locations are filling up quickly.

The 25 safety regions in the Netherlands were asked last week to increase the number of shelter places. 500 places should become available this month. Another 1,000 places must be added on October 1.

Of the additional locations in Drenthe, 32 have now been completed and are operational. The other extra beds will become available during October. At the end of the year, Drenthe is expected to have a total of 4,170 shelter places available.

Just over 98,000 Ukrainian refugees are now registered in the Netherlands. Emergency shelters have more than 81,000 beds available, of which more than 80,000 are in use.
