Houthalen-HelchterenA fatal accident took place on the slip road of the E314 in Houthalen on Saturday evening. The 24-year-old car driver RG went around 5 p.m. and ended up against a lighting pole.
At about 5 pm, things went wrong for the driver of a car that had taken the entrance and exit complex in Houthalen-Helchteren. He was driving on the service road for the direction to the industrial zone in Houthalen, when he presumably lost control of the steering wheel. The vehicle slammed into a light pole. The collision killed the driver. The person died at the accident site.
The fire brigade came to the scene to free the driver who was trapped in the wreckage. Emergency services tried to give him first aid, but help was to no avail. The traffic accident causes almost no disruption on the E314.
