24 Hours of Le Mans Moto 2023: victory for the FCC TSR Honda teal

The reigning champion team immediately finds victory in the first round of the 2023 EWC World Championship. Niccolò Canepa’s Yart Yamaha team and the official BMW team also on the podium, 5th place for the only Ducati in the race

The team FCC Tsr Honda France won the 2023 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the opening race of World Endurance of which he is champion, thus signing the 14th affirmation for Honda in the prestigious French event. The crew formed by local heroes Alan Techer and Mike Di Meglio together with the Australian Josh Hook was the author of a consistent and flawless race that allowed him to conquer a comfortable leadership in the night and close with 2 laps ahead of the team Yart Yamaha Of Niccolo Canepa, whose chances of victory were jeopardized by a crash by Czech Karel Hanika at dawn. The third step of the podium went to the team Bmw Motorrad World Endurance, previously ousted from the contention for the primacy by the fall of the young Ukrainian Ilya Mikhalchik. For them the consolation of the best lap in the race with 1:35.751.

DUCATI HIGHLIGHTS

Fourth place 7 laps away from the winners for the renewed team Wiltais Racingmoved to Honda in the winter after 14 seasons with Yamaha and dragged to the foot of the podium by the very fast rookie Leandro Mercado, who was decisive in winning the long duel with the team Erc Endurance Ducati by David Checa, Chaz Davies and Philipp Öttl. The top team from Borgo Panigale, despite having earned a good result, fought for the podium for a long time before losing a lot of time for an unexpected and long pit stop, which became necessary for the change of the clutch. Sixth place for the team Tati Beringer Racing in front of the big disappointments of Le Mans, the team Yoshimura Sert Motul, winner of the last two editions of the race and great favorite after taking pole position. However, the Suzuki squadron led by Sylvain Guintoli went out of action already in the first hour of the race due to a crash by the French-British Gregg Black following a contact with Hook’s Honda.

ITALY ON THE SHIELD IN SUPERSTOCK

The newborn team Tecmas-MRP-BMW Racing of Kenny Foray, Jan Buhn and Loïc Arbel took the victory in the Superstock class with 8th place overall ahead of the Yamaha of the 3Art Best of Bike team in the category standings, which closes the Top 10. Between the two, the Kawasaki Webike team Trickstar of local idol Randy De Puniet. Excellent third place finish in Superstock for the Italian team Honda No Limits which also fielded the 23-year-old from Rimini as a driver Lorenzo GabelliniGood sixth place for the team Slider Endurance by Jacopo Cretaro, 17th in the general ranking. The EWC World Championship will be back on stage in a couple of months with the wait 24 Hours of Spa-Francorschampsscheduled for the weekend from 16 to 18 June on the spectacular Belgian track.
