24 hours of exercise in Rolde for charity: ‘Very tired, but very happy’

24 hours of exercise for a good cause. Gym owner Daoud Rahimi from Rolde and his employees did this for 24 hours, just like last January. “I am especially proud of our athletes and sponsors,” he says with remarkable energy.

Roldenaar Rahimi and his gym staff trained almost 80 athletes from 10 a.m. Friday morning to 10 a.m. yesterday morning. Without a break and without sleep. “But with a lot of food from, among others, the bakery and a catering company,” says Rahimi.

The gym owner’s fundraising campaign was all about the Drenthe Sports Fund. A fund that helps children of parents with a small grant to, for example, participate in sports or take music lessons. That is why Rahimi decided to set up the campaign: “Our children are the future. It is important that they can play sports.”

Rahimi and associates managed to raise 4,480 euros. The municipality of Aa en Hunze adds an additional 250 euros. “But we still expect to reach 5,000,” he says firmly. “Our children are the future. They must be able to play sports. I of course hope that this will not be necessary again next year, but if necessary, we will repeat the action.”

The gym owner is ‘very tired’ after his 24-hour campaign, but he was unable to get some extra sleep. “I promised my kids I would chill on the couch with them.” He did go to bed on time in the evening. “Because today the gym is open again,” Rahimi concludes.
