The foxes lost on Sunday in the Max-Schmeling-Halle against SG Flensburg-Handewitt after a weak offensive performance with 22:28 (14:17).

The foxes ended the Bundesliga handball season with a home defeat. The game against Flensburg was meaningless, however, since the foxes’ third place was already certain.

The best Berlin pitcher was Hans Lindberg with nine goals. The Dane also got the top scorer in the league.

The hosts started with a high level of concentration and quickly took a 4:1 lead. The Berliners kept looking for Lindberg in their attacks to crown the Danes as the top scorer. So it was the 40-year-old who scored the first three goals for his team.

But after a 7:5 lead, the foxes started to slip more and more. Again and again they failed due to Flensburg keeper Kevin Möller – sometimes with very weak throws.

And the defense often lacked access, so that the guests came more and more easy goals. The hosts’ deficit grew to three goals shortly before the break.

After the change of sides, the foxes came back to a hit (16:17). But it was just a flash in the pan. The Berliners continued to be far too careless with their opportunities. Lindberg even missed two seven meters. Flensburg routinely played it down, the foxes hardly managed anything in the end.
