The Tampere Taekwon-Do World Championships saw a Finnish winner, when Mira Sjövall won the movement gold in women’s 3rd Dan movement series. On Wednesday, the man from Tampere had already captured the World Championship bronze in an exhibition match.

Sjövall had previously won two world championships, but this is the first of his career in the adult series.

– This was my third consecutive world championship: first with the first dan, then with the second and now with the third. It’s pretty insane. It’s also incredible that I was able to continue like this from a kid to an adult and it proves that I’ve belonged to the top of the world from the beginning. I came to challenge the adults, and the old actors trembled, says Sjövall in the press release.

Sjövall enjoyed the competitive atmosphere of his hometown. He thanked the background troops.

– I have the best coach in the world, the best training buddies with whom we have done a lot of fun and motivated each other. There is no secret or shortcut to it, my entire support team has worked hard.

On Friday, Sjövall will chase his third medal of the Games in matches.
