The diplomats’ accreditations have been revoked because our intelligence services suspect they are working as spies in our country. These are people who all work at the embassy in Brussels and the consulate in Antwerp. “These people are involved in espionage and influence activities,” said Foreign Affairs Minister Sophie Wilmès (MR) in the House last week. “That poses a threat to national security.”

The plane was chartered by the Russian government and departed from Abelag business airport. At the end of March, the diplomats had been ordered to leave the territory within two weeks.
