Six women and fifteen men are interested in becoming mayor of Castricum. Due to the departure of Toon Mans, the municipality is looking for a new mayor.
Karen has been taking Heerschop since June in the community did the honors. Mans left Castricum after twelve years to become chairman of the Twijs Foundation, an educational institution in the Haarlem region.
‘Captain’
Castricummers has previously been asked what kind of mayor they would prefer to see. The 663 responses showed that the village would like an ‘enthusiastic leader’, ‘who pushes boundaries, does not shy away from change, involves others in plans and has an eye on the future’.
Whether that ‘captain’ is among one of the candidates will become apparent from the conversations that a confidential committee from the municipal council will hold with the applicants. A new mayor is expected to be appointed in March 2024.
