The German U17 national team started the second round of the European Championship qualification with a win. The selection of the German Football Association won 2-1 (1-0) in Manavgat in Turkey.
Charles Herrmann of Borussia Dortmund in the 29th minute and captain Noah Darvich of SC Freiburg in the 56th minute scored the goals for the German team coached by Christian Wück. Mertcan Ayhan meanwhile equalized for Turkey (49th).
The win gave Germany a good starting position to qualify for the finals of the European Championship as group winners or as one of the top seven runners-up from the eight groups.
The final round of the European Championship will take place in Hungary from May 17th to June 2nd. First up are the two games against Finland on Saturday and Spain on Tuesday.
