West Flanders is the tastiest province, we heard today in Ter Groene Poorte in Bruges. Our province once again receives 29 Michelin stars, but also has 57 breweries and a very wide range of regional products.
The new guide of Het Lekkere West lists 205 catering establishments, a record. These are all businesses that use local products as much as possible.
“205 now. We started with about 60. It is the eighth edition. It is the largest catch. 45 new chefs,” says deputy and chairman of Westtoer Sabien Lahaye-Battheu.
Emmerson Despierre of Monsieur Beurre from Merkem: “I think it is very important to support local entrepreneurs. We are in a small municipality, so the people all support us. I think it is important that we support the farmer who works hard, that we can proudly continue his work.”
