Mehmet Büyükekşi, President of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF), published a New Year’s message. Mehmet Büyükekşi, in his message on the TFF website, said, “I wish that the year 2023, when we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of our Republic and our federation, will be auspicious for our country, our nation, our football family and the whole world.” used the phrases.
Emphasizing that the UEFA Champions League final will be played in Istanbul in the new year, Büyükekşi continued as follows:
We are getting ready to welcome a very important year for our country and Turkish football. We will host another big organization in 2023. On June 10, 2023, the UEFA Champions League final will be played at Istanbul Atatürk Olympic Stadium and the heart of football will beat in Istanbul. We have completed our preparations for this grand final match, which will be watched by football fans from all over the world. The hosts of the 2028 and 2032 European football championships for which we have applied for candidacy will be announced by UEFA in September 2023. Our country has the power and experience to carry out this organization successfully. We have the capacity to organize these big organizations in the most perfect way with our world-class stadiums, high-level facilities to host our guests and our manpower.
Reminding that the A National Football Team will compete in the European Championship qualifiers in 2023, Büyükekşi said, “Our National Football Team, the favorite of our nation, will compete with Croatia, Wales, Armenia and Latvia in the qualifying group with the matches that will start in 2023 to participate in the 2024 European Championship. With the aim of bringing our national team together with Anatolia, we will play national matches in our modern stadiums all over our country in the new period, as in the friendly matches we played in Diyarbakır and Gaziantep in 2022. I wholeheartedly believe that one of the youngest and most talented national teams in Europe, A. Our National Football Team will qualify for the European Championship to be held in Germany and will bring great joy to our nation.” expressed an opinion.
Wishing success to Fenerbahçe, Trabzonspor, Medipol Başakşehir and Demir Grup Sivasspor in the matches they will play in 2023, who continue their way in the European cups, Büyükekşi also noted the following in his message:
I hope that our clubs will reach the highest level in the European arena, which is of great importance for the brand value and country score of Turkish football. As the TFF management, we will continue our work with determination in 2023 by adding new projects to our projects that we have implemented in the first 6 months to add value to our football. It is our greatest desire to have a year in which the spirit of fair play is kept above everything else, respect for the opponent is not compromised, and the passion and enthusiasm for football is experienced at the highest level. We believe that from our football players to our coaches, from our referees to our club presidents, from our managers to all our fans, everyone who has devoted themselves to Turkish football will be in unity and solidarity in a way befitting the 100th anniversary. With these feelings and thoughts, I wish that 2023, the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish Football Federation, will bring health, happiness and peace to our country and the world, especially to our ‘big football family’.
