200 families held hostage in residential tower after inspection disapproves elevators: “Shopping or visiting family? No longer an option for older residents”

The residents of a tower block in the Queen Fabiola Park in Sint-Niklaas have had no elevators since Friday. These were rejected and disabled after an inspection. The mostly elderly residents feel held hostage because the residential tower has 15 floors and many are physically unable to take the stairs.
