20-year-old who hit cyclist arrested for attempted murder
The 20-year-old was brought before the investigating judge on Saturday. In the Mandellaan in Roeselare, the car driver deviated from his lane at 6 p.m. and deliberately drove the sixty-year-old off the bicycle path. The cyclist was scooped up, flew over the vehicle and fell behind the car. Then the driver drove away. A witness was able to film the facts and the suspect’s stepfather called the police shortly afterwards.
The driver stated that he was angry with the world and that he wanted to do something about the problem of overpopulation. He tested positive for drugs. The victim suffered serious head and chest injuries. He was briefly in critical condition, but has no longer been in a life-threatening condition since Saturday, the prosecutor’s office reports.
