More than 20 people were killed in a head-on collision between a coach and a money transporter on a South African expressway.
Almost 70 other people were injured said the rescue service ER24 on Tuesday night. The bus fell off a bridge into a river after the collision on Monday evening on the N1 trunk road near the town of Louis Trichardt, it said. Paramedics and firefighters recovered three bodies on the side of the road and 16 others in the river.
One injured person died in hospital a few hours later, according to ER24. Some passengers were missing on Tuesday morning.
The exact cause of the accident was initially unclear on Tuesday. The area in the north-eastern province of Limpopo has been hit by heavy rains in recent days.
