20.8. let’s celebrate Hawaiian Pizza Day

Today we celebrate Hawaiian pizza, known for its pineapple.

One pizza topping in particular gets a conversation going. It can even be called the eternal bone of contention of pizza toppings. Pineapple is allowed to carry this honor.

Today, Saturday 20.8. let’s celebrate pineapple flavored Hawaiian pizza day. Hawaiian pizza is filled with ham, pineapple and cheese.

Pizza oven manufacturer Ooni says in its press release that in a Nordic survey, only 16 percent of Finnish respondents reported pineapple as their topping. Ham became the favorite filling.

1,042 respondents from Finland took part in the YouGov survey conducted in the summer of 2022. Shrimp, salmon and goat cheese were on the list of the most avoided fillings.

However, the most “No thanks to my pizza” votes were received by the Swedish pizza specialty curried banana. The curried banana pizza loved by the Swedes doesn’t taste any better to the Finns than to the Danes.

Every other person who responded to the survey in Finland and Denmark said that they would completely skip banana and curry as a pizza topping.

Anchovies pleased the survey respondents the second least: almost every second named it the least tasty pizza topping.

Hawaiian Pizza Day is of course celebrated by eating pizza.
